Hello!

I’ve chosen to join in a Read-A-Thon reading race to support the science program at my school, Ad Fontes Academy!

From February 26 - March 7, I will race alongside my classmates to read the most minutes we possibly can.

To help my school reach our goal of 125,000 minutes, my goal is to read 850 total minutes or more during the race.

Would you consider supporting me in this race? Based upon my reading goal above, you may choose to match every minute I plan to read with a nickel, dime, quarter, or any other amount you’d like to give.

Check on my progress throughout the 10-day race to see what I’m reading and how far I’ve come! I’m selecting books for my stack now. Thank you for considering supporting me!

Sincerely,

Keira

Day 1: We went to the bookstore and I spent my first day of the readathon reading 173 minutes!! I even read Prince Caspian in the hospital while I was waiting to get my cast off! Now I have two good arms to hold my books with! :)

Day 2: I read 105 minutes on a Saturday, woo!

Day 3: I finished my newest Never Girl book in the series and stayed up late on a school night when I was supposed to be asleep. Who needs sleep when you can read??

Day 4: Today was read to a pet day. I read a total of 105 minutes and about 10 of them to my wiggly guinea pigs. Aren't they cute?

Day 5: I'm reading in the car on the way to school and a ton at recess and snack time to make sure I get all my minutes. I'm already way above my goal. Read 122 minutes today!

ABOUT 2021 Readathon

AFA's 2021 Read-a-thon

Instill a love for reading and science!

From February 26 to March 7, our K-6th graders will embark on a Read-a-thon race, where they will read as much as they can in an effort to earn prizes and beat the school-wide goal of 125,000 total minutes.

The Read-a-thon is a greatly anticipated annual event which helps cultivate a love for reading in young students and gives them a fun way to work alongside their peers to exceed goals and build confidence. With a little encouragement from teachers, classmates and supporters like you, it's incredible what children can accomplish!

In addition to forming lifelong readers, your donation will also help to inspire scientific curiosity and exploration! Funds raised toward our $20,000 goal will bolster our lower school science program with new curriculum, supplies and equipment. Any additional funds may be used to strengthen AFA’s growing music and arts program.

Please make sure you respond by the last day of the race (March 7).

Thank you!
